The woman whose body was found near Paula Abdul's home was a one-time "American Idol" contestant who, despite being ridiculed during her audition, maintained her infatuation with judge Paula Abdul.
Former "Idol" contestant Paula Goodspeed was found outside Paula Abdul's home.Paula Goodspeed, 30, was found dead, an apparent suicide, Tuesday evening in her car, which was parked a few doors down from Abdul's Los Angeles home. Reuters reported that prescription pills, along with CDs and pictures of Abdul, were found in the car.
"It appears to be a suicide by overdose," Detective Robert Bub of the Los Angeles Police Department told Reuters.
According to Ross Bonfiglio, the public information officer for the Ventura County Sheriff's Department, a close relative of Goodspeed called the sheriff's office at 3 p.m. Tuesday to report the young woman missing.
"Goodspeed had not been seen since 11 p.m. Monday, and her family member thought that she might try to overdose. The family member relayed her psychiatric history including her Paula Abdul fixation," Bonfiglio said.
Police were apparently familiar with Goodspeed, who may have been stalking Abdul. A law enforcement source told the Los Angeles Times that she was known to the LAPD's threat management unit, which investigates stalking cases.

Diana DeGarmo Stalker going to Court
A WOMAN who allegedly sent obscene e-mails and made phone calls to an American Idol star was today ordered to stand trial.
Tanya Maree Quattrocchi, 22, of Oak Park allegedly sent emails to family, friends and work colleagues of US pop singer Diana DeGarmo, 20.
The Melbourne Magistrates' Court today heard Ms Quattrocchi was obsessed with the Tennessee singer, who performed in Hairspray the musical, and sent fictitious emails about the star's sex live to Ms DeGarmo's friends.
Ms Quattrocchi has pleaded not guilty to four counts of stalking the American star between November last year and January.
Police arrested her in April after they seized her computer and mobile phone.
The victim said in documents tendered to court Ms Quattrocchi had called her almost nightly, had hacked into her MySpace account and sent messages pretending to be her including vulgar emails.
"I have moved twice and she still finds me. I cannot have any private or professional life without her infiltrating it,'' Ms DeGarmo said in a statement.
"No matter what I do I cannot get away from her. She is still to this day stealing my online identity and harassing my friends, family and myself,'' she said.
The court heard Ms Quattrocchi allegedly sent emails stating the singer wanted to have sex with her brother, loved older men and was a lesbian.
"Diana is a lesbian whore. I don’t want her small hands touching me. I love guys and have sex with them,’’ Ms Quattrochi wrote to the singer’s sister-in-law.
Ms Quattrocchi was released on bail under the condition she not use any computer or device that allows internet or email access and not communicate in any way with Ms DeGarmo.
She must now appear at the County Court in January 2009.

Some fellow "Idol" alums attended the wedding, including Sanjaya Malakar, Haley Scarnato and Melinda Doolittle.

Former American Idol star LaKisha Jones married financial adviser Larry Davis on Sunday – with a fair share of her season-six castmates to bear witness.
As about 50 family and friends – including Haley Scarnato, Melinda Doolittle, Gina Glocksen and Sanjaya Malakar (sporting shoulder-length loose curls) – looked on, Jones, 28, exchanged vows with Davis at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
In keeping with the event's theme of old-fashioned Hollywood glamour, white round candles perched on floating black stands and red rose petals dotted the floor.
The bride – beaming in a strapless Alfred Angelo gown, custom crystal-encrusted shoes by Stuart Weitzman and diamond earrings, necklace and bracelet by Neil Lane – punctuated the ceremony with laughter during a vow that included the phrase "for richer or less richer."

American Idol Picks a 4th Judge
British singer and songwriter Kara DioGuardi has been added on as the fourth judge in American Idol. She will start her run at judge's table along side hosts Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson this January when the new season premieres on FOX.
Mike Darnell, the president of Fox said in a statement, "For the past seven seasons, Paula has had to endure the experience of being the only woman at the judges' table. With Kara DioGuardi by her side, Paula has some backup and now there is going to be a lot more `girl power' on the show."
Executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz stated, "We had originally intended for `American Idol' to have four judges. We've seen from our international series that having a fourth judge creates a dynamic that benefits both the contestants and the viewers."
American Idol: The Search for the Next Superstar is a signing competition airing on Fox Network going into its eighth season. The program seeks to discover the best singer in the country through a series of nationwide auditions. In the last rounds of the competition, viewers call in and vote for their favorite contestant. The winner of each season is given a record deal. Past winners and notable runners-up include Kelly Clarkston, Clay Aitkin, Taylor Hicks, Reuben Studdard and Carrie Underwood.
